Never mind that ruthless kick-about along the main street of Atherstone next Tuesday, the more elegant game was played with just as much passion today at the Town's Academy AstroTurf pitch.
The Badgers went up to Atherstone with Dave "wild and reckless" Powell kitted up. But after 3 minutes Dave was beaten twice with quickfire well taken home goals. We thought we were going to be in for a real thumping...
But we weren't.
Goals from Tom Washbourne and Captain Matthew, with another trademark solo effort, brought it back to 2-2 before half time.
Then another goal early in the second half with Libby Hoare combining well with William McDowell to set up a goal for Tom Stokes and we were in the lead. Atherstone equalised from a brilliant cross in front of Dave's pads at the near post. Then we discovered we have a New Cat with Dave making 3 preposterous saves, before Man of the Match, Sam McDowell put away the winner after an assist from his brother.
So a breathtaking 4-3 win for Bournville and a great game to play in or watch.
