Bournville Badgers struggled today, missing key players, poached into the Mens 4ths (bye-bye Ethan and Sam), and despite having a similar number of chances to Old Silhillians in both halves, suffered 2 goals without reply.
This was all overshadowed, midway through the second half, by what initially looked like no more than an innocuous challenge to Jack as he moved the ball on through the midfield. Jack was hit above his right eye by the stick of the challenger, and the game stopped while Beth Dugmore, having arrived to umpire the next game, very kindly and professionally used her skills to tend to his wound. Steve took Jack straight to A&E, and Connor Lennon, one of our original Youth Academy students, stepped into Steve's shoes as our adult player, no less than 10 years after his last Badgers appearance. Thanks Connor ( photo in the pub at One Stop afterwards) and a big big thanks to Beth.
Jack - we all hope you recover quickly and didn't spend too long in A&E.
