It's been almost a month since the season finished and we had our first dinner dance for three years. A huge thanks must go to Holly for organising the evening and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves. Judging by the number of people that headed to Snobs after, I'm going to assume that was the case.

Award winners:

Brian Grainer Clubman Of The Year: Steve Washbourne
This was an emotional event for everyone attending on the night, the speech from George was breath-taking and really spelt out the difference you can make in someone else's life. Steve not only made a difference to George's life being the first to start emergency first-aid, but he's done it throughout his time with the club. His endless dedication to helping with the junior section can not be understated and he's even dusted off his stick and played when we've been short in the adults teams. This season he's also played some games with both of his son's which I'm sure was a real proud moment.

Kevin Hilliard Award for Commitment to the Club: Daniel McConaghy
Not much needs to be said about Dan's commitment to Bournville Hockey Club it's known to all and he's devoted a lot of time over the past few seasons to rebuilding the men's club. This has at moments been incredibly stressful as I'm sure he would happily tell anyone, but without his hard work and dedication the club wouldn't be in the position it is today.

Stuart Knox Newcomer of the Year Award: Ben Fry
After having his attempt to join us delayed by a year due to covid, it's been an absolute pleasure having Ben involved in the club. Trains every week, available every week and more often than not happy to umpire every week. Despite it being his first season in the club, it feels like he's been here for years.

Summer league has already started for the Ladies and the Men's starts in the next few weeks. If you want to get involved please contact your club captains if you haven't already.
