Successful first tournament for U12 team
By Adrian Bailey
Bournville U12 performed really well in their first appearance at the 7 a side tournament held at King Edward Boys School
A newly formed U12 team played in the KES tournament last Saturday. After tough early games against the well organised Edgbaston and King Edwards Boys teams, the U12 started to create chances against Kings Heath with George Jones scoring 2 goals in a close encounter, which they narrowly lost 3-2. In the final game against Bromsgrove there was end to end action and Barney Martin scored his first goal, although despite a great team performance they narrowly lost 2-1. All 8 players did really well, with Gabrielle making several great stops in goal and Fergus and Jake making several excellent tackles in defence. The midfield of Olly, Barney and George Jones worked really hard to link up the forwards and the defence. While the forwards of GEORGE ASTBURY and Cory created chances and chased down the opposition and pressured them into mistakes. This was a great learning exercise and should help the team to develop for future games during the coming season.
