The ladies put out another combined team today against Hampton. It was an early start, but the sun was shining and we were in good spirits.
Tasks were delegated to various team members, we warmed up enthusiastically and tried to transfer our positivity into the game.
From the onset it was clear that Hampton were fast and accurate on the ball, and they punished us for not posting up/running to meet said ball.
Not making excuses as fitness is an area most of us were lacking, but the warm weather affected us adversely in terms of performance. By half time, despite some good play we were down 3-0.
After a rousing team talk where everyone contributed useful points, we played much better in the 2nd half. We stemmed the flow of goals and only conceded one more.
Man of the match went to Olwyn Jenkins who gave a fantastic performance, and constantly persevered to set a great example to the rest of us. (Please tell us what you had for breakfast Olwyn, and whether you were secretly trying to reach a mammoth number of steps!)
