Our pitches were bathed in sunshine as we 'warmed up ' and welcomed old friends and news recruits.
Playing in our last pre season friendly against a classy Bromsgrove team we were grateful to receive wise words from our captain Nicola Burns. We played as a unit with great passing play and plenty of running off the ball but were pressured hard by a very well organised Bromsgrove team who quickly pressed their advantage. The defensive line worked hard with a brilliant performance from Helen Appleby in goal who was frankly, outstanding.
Despite our very best efforts Bromsgrove scored again.
Bournville rallied with excellent mid field play from Kerry Murdock, Nicola Burns, Faith Newman and new recruit Keely Edwards.
The second half saw a rejuvenated Bournville team demonstrate their character with an inspirational performance from Gemma Taylor who linked up brilliantly with Clare Bond, Kerry Murdock and Fantastic Finisher Faith Newman.
Bromsgrove were deserved winners but we start the league with confidence and a strong platform to build on.
Bring on Stourport next week. Do you know how good it feels to beat Stourport!
Thanks to Tom Jones and Mike Drew who umpired superbly.
Ps teas at the British Oak were pretty darn good too
