An Historic first for the Club

“Bournville set their sights on indoor title” read the headline in the Birmingham Mail with the Men’s Indoor side having reached the National Indoor Hockey Championships for the first time in the club’s history.

Having finished 4th in the Premier Division they qualified for the televised National Indoor Hockey Championship Finals alongside Old Loughtonians, East Grinstead & Loughborough Students. Along with Old Loughtonians, Bournville were one of the first sides from outside of the outdoor National Premier Division to qualify for the Indoor Finals.

After having to wait until 15:30 to face East Grinstead, unfortunately the day was over after only 40 minutes of game time for the boys in Maroon. With no 3rd/4th play-off our men were knocked out by the tournament favourites.
